Swoon Balloon

The air is thinner up here,

The colors so bright we can taste them.

My heart beats quickly, but curiously knows it’s safer than ever before.

It’s warmer than I’d expected,

The layers of fear I’d clung to are used for kindling.

I take them off of my body, each time imagining I’ll feel colder.

Instead, the bonfire grows.
